Ferric Alum |
|
Ferric alums are manufactured from
sulphuric acid (98%), water and Bauxite, which is supplied from Ranchi,
Jharkhand. Two types of ferric alums are produced- Gr I & Gr II .The
plant is designed to produce ferric alum conforming to BIS: 299-1989 (4th
Revision)

Non-ferric alums are produced from Alumina Hydrate [Al (OH)3]
sulphuric acid 98% and water. Alumina hydrate is being supplied from Nalco
& Indulco . The specifications designed for production under BIS 260; 2001
(2nd Revision) is as follows:

Ammonium alum
|
|
Ammonium alum is manufactured by boiling bauxite- sulphuric acid liquor
with ammonium sulphate [(NH4)2] and crystallizing
it where coal is used as a fuel.
Besides
the above BIS specifications, the plant produces ferric alums of
different qualities according to the customers demand. This is the only
plant which produces all the three types of alums in Assam. The plant is
designed and installed to produce 6000 MT Ferric Alum, 6000 MT Non-ferric
alum and 1000 MT Ammonium alum per annum. |
